At 8:15 a.m. Monday, Huntington Park City Council member Jonathan Sanabria was set to work his non-profit day job from home when he received an email from the city manager alerting him that ICE was coming to their city.
Sanabria quickly fired off messages to other city leaders to spread the news, then said goodbye to his pregnant wife and raced out the door and into his Tesla. Recalling news coverage of a comment White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller reportedly made about ICE needing to target Home Depot stores, Sanabria headed straight for the chain’s Slauson Avenue location.
