A California man accused of spitting on a federal officer during an attempted arrest is in the United States illegally

LOS ANGELES – A 41-year-old man from Los Angeles’ Historic South Central neighborhood has been charged with assaulting a federal officer after allegedly spitting on him during an arrest attempt, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California.

Omar Pulido Bastida, a Mexican national living in the United States illegally, has been charged with felony assault on a federal employee.

Prosecutors said this charge carries a maximum sentence of eight years in federal prison…
