Santa Monica Attempted Rape Suspect Had Violent Criminal History, Was on Probation

SANTA MONICA – The man arrested in the attempted sexual assault of an 84-year-old Santa Monica woman month has a prior conviction for felony assault and was on probation at the time of the attack, court records show.

Pape Tall, 39, of Long Beach, was taken into custody June 5 after police say he dragged the elderly woman into an alley near 6th Street and Wilshire Boulevard and attempted to rape her. Witnesses helped officers track down and arrest Tall near 5th Street and California Avenue.

Just four days later, on June 9, Tall appeared before Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Keith L. Schwartz at the Airport Courthouse for a probation violation hearing…
