Drug overdose deaths in LA County dropped a record 22% for 2024

LOS ANGELES — Drug overdose deaths in LA County dropped 22% last year, making it the most significant drop in drug-related overdose deaths according to the County of LA Department of Public Health.

Within that 22% drop, about 37% of them are fentanyl related and 20% are methamphetamine related, the two drugs that primarily contribute to overdose deaths.
