Armed Security Patrols Begin in Encino Amid Crime Wave

Encino residents are taking action to protect their neighborhood as a wave of crime, including burglaries and a double murder, has shaken the community. The recent killing of “American Idol” executive Robin Kaye and her husband Thomas Deluca has heightened concerns. On Monday night, just hours after a community meeting with law enforcement, two more homes were targeted by attempted burglars, including one belonging to former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Teddi Mellencamp.

According to NBC Los Angeles, the LAPD responded to a burglary call at Mellencamp’s home on Hayvenhurst Drive. Mellencamp and her husband, Edwin Arroyave, were home with their children when intruders attempted to break in. Arroyave said, “Three individuals basically jumped the gate and, luckily, the cameras detected people jumping. So, we knew, right away.” The intruders fled when the alarm went off, and no one was harmed.

Another attempted burglary occurred on Enfield Avenue, where homeowners witnessed the break-in through security cameras and called 911. By the time police arrived, the burglars had left, and it was unclear if anything was taken…
