Measles case confirmed in L.A. County; person visited LAX, Hilton hotel

Los Angeles County health officials are urging residents to check their measles immunization status following confirmation of a case linked to an out-of-county traveler who passed through LAX while infectious earlier this month.

Public Health said the traveler visited several public locations while contagious, including:

  • July 5, 2025: LAX. Flight details remain under investigation.
  • July 5, 7:30 p.m. – July 7, 1 p.m.: Hilton Los Angeles Airport, 5711 W. Century Blvd.

Individuals who were at these locations during those times may be at risk of developing measles between 7 and 21 days after exposure. Health officials are identifying and notifying potentially exposed individuals to assess their risk and prevent further spread.

Measles symptoms include:

  • High fever (may spike to more than 104°)
  • Cough
  • Runny nose (coryza)
  • Red, watery eyes (conjunctivitis)

Officials emphasized that those who were exposed but remain symptom-free after July 26 (for airport exposure) or July 28 (for hotel exposure) are no longer at risk…
