Person burns to death in trailer fire at Vermont Square homeless encampment

One person was killed by a trailer fire at a homeless encampment in Vermont Square on Saturday morning, authorities confirmed.

The blaze was reported around 5:30 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department, in the 4600 block of South Western Avenue.

Crews arrived quickly and found a trailer completely engulfed in flames at what they determined to be a homeless encampment.

Details of the fire battle were not initially provided, but, upon extinguishing the blaze, LAFD found remains of one person within the trailer. The victim’s identity was not revealed…
