LA Council to Consider Throwing Support Behind Newsom’s Redistricting Plan

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – The Los Angeles City Council is expected Wednesday to consider a resolution to support Gov. Gavin Newsom’s redistricting plan, Proposition 50.

Council members Adrin Nazarian and Hugo Soto-Martinez, who introduced the resolution, scheduled a news conference to discuss the resolution before Wednesday’s vote. Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez and Los Angeles County Federation of Labor President Yvonne Wheeler are also expected to participate.

If approved, the resolution would establish the city’s support of Proposition 50 that would adopt new congressional district maps for the 2026 election, which would also be in effect in 2028 and 2030…
