Father Held at Marina del Rey Station, Charged With Murder After Toddler Dies in Parked Car in View Park

VIEW PARK – A View Park father is being held on $2 million bail at the Marina del Rey Sheriff’s Station after being charged with murder in the death of his 1-year-old daughter, who was found unresponsive in a parked vehicle earlier this week.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Thursday that Edwin Johnson, 40, was re-arrested Wednesday on suspicion of murder following the death of Maeve Blankeley-Johnson. He was initially booked Tuesday on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter and child neglect after the child was discovered unconscious inside a vehicle.

The incident unfolded around 3:10 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of Chanson Drive, just north of Slauson Avenue in the unincorporated View Park neighborhood, when deputies from the LASD Marina del Rey Station responded to a 911 call reporting a child not breathing.
