Altercation in drive-thru leads to shooting

A 21-year-old man was arrested for shooting and killing a male victim and wounding a woman on Sept. 6 after a dispute in the drive-thru of a McDonald’s restaurant at Western Avenue and Romaine Street.

The shooting occurred around 3:30 a.m. The gunman, identified as Humberto Delgado, was in front of the victims in the drive-thru and claimed their vehicle struck his rear bumper. When the two vehicles left the drive-thru, a physical altercation ensued in the parking lot between the suspects and victims and Humberto pulled out a gun and started shooting, police said. Feliciano “Felix” Curiel, 36, was shot in the torso and died. The woman, described in a GoFundMe for Curiel as his fiancée, was struck in the leg and is recovering.

Los Angeles Police Department officers took Delgado into custody and his gun was seized as evidence. He was charged with manslaughter. Although the two victims were unarmed, they had been involved in a violent altercation with the suspect, police said. Delgado, who claimed he fired in self-defense, posted $100,000 bail and was released pending upcoming court proceedings…
