Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass Reports Success with Inside Safe Program in Reducing South LA Homelessness

In an ongoing effort to address the homelessness crisis in Los Angeles, Mayor Karen Bass announced a notable progression with the Inside Safe program, as it successfully moved more Angelenos from a South LA encampment into safer conditions and care. According to information released by the Mayor’s office, the targeted encampment sat wedged between critical community infrastructure—a predicament for residents—and its clearing brings both relief and stability to the area. “Inside Safe is addressing encampments and restoring neighborhoods to the community across the city,” Mayor Bass said. “We will not stop until every Angeleno is safely inside and communities are restored.”

This initiative lies close to the heart of Council District 9, which Councilmember Curren Price described as an area integral to community life in South Los Angeles. “By clearing and securing this area, we’ve been able to put our unhoused neighbors on a path toward housing and greater stability, while also making it possible for our residents to fully enjoy their neighborhoods again,” Price said, as stated by the Mayor’s office.
