At 8:41 a.m. on Monday, the National Weather Service issued an updated beach hazards statement valid from 11 a.m. until 3 a.m. on Wednesday. The statement is for Ventura County Beaches, Malibu Coast and Los Angeles County Beaches.
The NWS adds, “Dangerous rip currents expected with breaking waves locally up to 6 feet on south-facing beaches possible.”
NWS officials said the rip currents could occur at any moment within the time frame, making it all the more important for residents to heed the warning.

“There is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats nearshore,” adds the NWS…
