The tragic fall that claimed the life of a 16-year-old Los Angeles teenager at a Northern California freeway on-ramp has been under intense scrutiny this week. The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the victim as Jose Cuevas from the Harbor City neighborhood of Los Angeles, as reported by FOXLA. The incident occurred during a large sideshow near the Interstate 80 on-and off-ramps by the Carquinez Bridge in Crockett. Cuevas is said to have climbed a concrete barrier and fell approximately 75 feet to his death.
Controversy surrounds the street takeovers, which the California Highway Patrol (CHP) says are a growing problem throughout the state. Attempting to attain a view of cars performing donuts, Cuevas made the fatal decision to scale the barrier, officials informed CBS News Bay Area.
