LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles City Council voted 10-3 by roll call Wednesday to finalize nearly $5 million in spending for Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, LLP, approving a steep increase to its original $900,000 contract for legal services in the city’s ongoing homelessness litigation.
The action authorizes the City Attorney’s Office to transfer $4 million from the city’s unappropriated balance and $1 million from its own salary budget to cover the contract, which funds outside counsel in LA Alliance for Human Rights v. City of Los Angeles.
