Pursuit suspect in custody after hourlong standoff with L.A. police

A man is in custody after a slow-speed pursuit through Los Feliz that ended after a more than hour-long standoff with the Los Angeles Police Department Monday night.

The pursuit was initiated shortly after 9 p.m., with the suspect behind the wheel of a gray Infiniti.

Officers successfully deployed several spike strips, though the driver continued onward, stopping intermittently before continuing to slowly pull away, even as both rear tires were nearly down to the rim.

Just before 10 p.m., police performed a PIT maneuver and brought the vehicle to a stop on the sidewalk along Los Feliz Boulevard and North Serrano Avenue. Officers immediately got out of their patrol vehicles with guns drawn, though they kept a safe distance from the suspect’s car.
