LASD: Man beaten to death with large stick, suspect detained on bus

A suspect was detained after allegedly beating a man to death with a large stick, authorities say.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department stated that, around 4 a.m. Saturday, deputies from the Walnut station were dispatched to the 18000 block of Colima Road in Rowland Heights on a report of an assault with a deadly weapon.

Upon arriving, the deputies found the victim – only identified as a male adult – with blunt force trauma injuries at the intersection of Colima Road and Jellick Avenue. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by L.A. County Fire Department paramedics.

“Deputies learned the suspect, who was armed with a large stick, hit the victim,” LASD said in a statement. “The suspect was seen leaving the location on a bus, which was stopped by deputy personnel.”…
