A Ferris wheel malfunctioned at a local school event on Friday night.
The ride had been set up during the “Electric Illusion Nocturnal Jungle” event hosted by Bishop Conaty Our Lady of the Loretto High School, which is located in L.A.’s Harvard Heights neighborhood, and was operating around 9 p.m. when the incident occurred.
News stringer service RMGNews reported, citing witnesses, that the malfunction sent some of the carriages to the ground.
Video obtained by KTLA shows some of the carriages dangling dangerously close to the ground as one person scaled the outer part of the Ferris wheel. The Los Angeles Fire Department was dispatched to assist with removing people from the ride, which was shut down promptly after the malfunction was spotted…
