Manhunt Underway for Inmate Who Escaped Los Angeles Reentry Program

California is on the lookout for a man who has absconded from a Los Angeles County community reentry program. Jeremy D. Hendricks, a 37-year-old inmate, managed to tamper with his ankle monitor and walk away from the Male Community Reentry Program (MCRP) facility near 37th Street and Hill Street on Saturday morning. According to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), the escape occurred at around 11:15 a.m. on September 27, as reported by KTLA.

The CDCR has described Hendricks as 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 185 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing a black short-sleeve shirt, black pants, and black shoes. Officials promptly conducted an emergency count to swiftly confirm Hendricks’s absence and alerted local law enforcement agencies, who are now aiding in the search. Those with information about Hendricks’s whereabouts are being urged to call 911 or to directly contact CDCR Special Agent Abraham Villasenor at 760-936-1851, according to a CDCR statement.

Hendricks’s criminal record includes a sentence of 20 years handed down on October 11, 2012, for assault with a semiautomatic firearm, along with an enhancement for firearm use, and second-degree robbery, both as a second striker. He had been residing at the MCRP since August 13 of this year. The MCRP program is designed for eligible offenders with two years or less left on their sentences and aids in their transition back into the community, offering services that span employment help, education, and family reunification, as detailed by CDCR’s announcement…
