Video footage taken at a Los Angeles area high school’s “Family Fun Day” captured the terrifying moment a carnival ride malfunctioned with several riders trapped inside.
The incident occurred on Friday, Sept. 26, at Bishop Conaty — Our Lady of Loretto High School in the Pico-Union neighborhood of L.A., according to ABC 7.
In a video captured by eyewitness Sylvester Ramirez, the ride — most commonly known as the Zipper — appears to stop and jolt unexpectedly. Then, one of the carriages snaps out of place and rams into another.
In a second video, a red detached carriage can be seen returning to the loading area, but as it returned around the bend, the carriage gathered enough momentum to slam into another carriage. While the ride continued turning, the red carriage ran into the metal queue dividers placed next to the attraction…
