County Declares State of Emergency

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted on Tuesday to approve a local emergency declaration that will provide financial and legal assistance to residents impacted by ongoing ICE operations. The emergency status allows the board to allocate state funds and set up an online portal for rent relief applications within two months, according to Supervisor Lindsey Horvath’s office. The measure could also pave the way for an eviction moratorium, though that would require a separate vote by the board.
