LOS ANGELES – Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed Assembly Bill 630, giving Los Angeles and Alameda counties new authority to remove and dispose of abandoned or inoperable recreational vehicles – a move aimed at clearing derelict vehicles and strengthening local enforcement of RV regulations.
Authored by Assemblymember Mark Gonzalez (D-Los Angeles), the law allows both counties to streamline the removal of recreational vehicles valued at $4,000 or less through 2030. It expands on existing state law, which permits the disposal of vehicles valued at $500 or less if deemed abandoned or inoperable.
“Governor Newsom signed AB 630, which will help us keep junker vehicles off the streets and crack down on the vanlords who create dangerous encampments in our neighborhoods,” Gonzalez said in a statement. “This bill gives local governments the tools they need to restore order and safety while maintaining transparency and accountability.”…
