BEND, Ore. — A graduate of Summit High School who was working as a police officer in Southern California died in the line of duty after being hit by a vehicle Monday.
Lauren Craven, 25, was working as a La Mesa patrol officer when she stopped to help two motorists in a crash on Interstate 8 in the San Diego area. Craven was hit by an oncoming vehicle, according to the City of La Mesa. She died at the scene.
