Man arrested in Los Angeles accused of making Gaston County bomb threats while brother was in court

GASTONIA, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A man was arrested on the opposite side of the country after being charged with making bomb threats to the Gaston County Courthouse earlier this month.

The Gaston County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with the Gastonia Police Department and multiple law enforcement partners including the FBI, identified a suspect in connection with two bomb threats made on Oct. 14. Authorities say they were made by the brother of a defendant who was awaiting his sentencing that day in Superior Court.

At noon that day, deputies say the Superior Court Clerk’s Office received a bomb threat via phone, followed by a second threat just a few minutes later to Central Control at the Gaston County Jail. Both calls reported that two vehicles in the courthouse parking lot contained explosives.
