LOS ANGELES – Another in a series of friends sent me a copy of an article written about Assembly Bill 630 with the catchy title, “New California Law Lets Counties Seize RVs – Even if Their Owner Lives in Them.” I had to laugh.
Obviously, I have a lot of friends who are hopeful that this law will help recapture our public spaces for the public – all the public – not just the homeless who have nowhere else to go but at least benefit, in a perverse way, from LA’s de facto policy of permanently housing its homeless population on the streets.
Let’s get real. Even a modest move in a different direction such as AB 630 promises is doomed to failure. Maybe in Modesto or San Francisco a measure like this might make some incremental difference, but in LA? Hilarious…
