The Los Angeles Police Department rescued more than a dozen sick and emaciated dogs and puppies from a homeless encampment in Skid Row Thursday morning.
Described as an “unlawful puppy mill,” the animals were found by members of the LAPD Heavy Metal Task Force, a unit which typically investigates metal and copper wire thefts across the city.
While conducting an operation at the homeless encampment, officers found 14 sickly dogs and puppies and immediately removed them from the scene. Police say they were “booked as evidence, and will receive necessary medical treatment.”
The owner of the the dogs was also found to be wanted on a felony warrant and was taken into custody and could face potential new charges for animal abuse and neglect…
