1 killed in 2-car crash on 10 Freeway in Boyle Heights; lanes closed

At least one person was killed in a two-vehicle crash that shut down lanes of the 10 Freeway in Boyle Heights early Saturday morning.

The collision was reported around 4:30 a.m. on the westbound 10 just east of Cesar Chavez Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol. Two vehicles collided in the wet conditions, with one car reportedly smoking and the other facing the wrong direction in traffic lanes.

CHP logs initially indicated all westbound lanes were held as first responders arrived, but by 5 a.m., only the number 2 and 3 lanes remained closed as crews conducted a hard closure for the investigation.
