Los Angeles hate crimes have soared to a record high in a ‘deeply disturbing’ new report.

Los Angeles County Commission on Human Relations released its annual report this week on hate crime statistics, revealing a total of 1,355 hate crimes across the city throughout 2024 – the second highest ever in the 44 years since the report was first published in 1980.

Findings showed multiple groups were targeted – including African Americans, LGBTQ+ individuals, Jewish people, Latino/as, Middle Easterners, women, Israelis, Muslims, and Scientologists..
