United Teachers Los Angeles, the union representing more than 37,000 educators across the Los Angeles Unified School District, has declared an impasse following 10 months of negotiations.
Negotiations began on Feb. 18, and declaring an impasse will usher in a formal mediation process. So far, UTLA has claimed that LAUSD has not negotiated in good faith.
“We cannot allow LAUSD to sit on one of the largest school reserves in the country while our communities are under attack, educators are overworked and underpaid, and students lack the resources they need,” UTLA President Cecily Myart-Cruz said in a statement…
