Palisades Homeowner Sues LA, Mayor Bass Over Negligence in Wildfire

A California homeowner has sued the city of Los Angeles, its mayor and other government entities, alleging negligence and other failures that allowed a small New Year’s Day brush fire to reignite and explode into the devastating Palisades Fire, which ravaged Pacific Palisades and surrounding areas in January.

In a complaint filed Friday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Aurora Point LLC accused the city, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Los Angeles County, Mayor Karen Bass and unnamed others of contributing to the fire’s spread through inadequate firefighting resources, an empty water reservoir and ignored warnings about high winds.
