Leimert Park Enjoys Snow Blizzard, Thanks to Councilwoman Heather Hutt

Leimert Park Plaza turned completely white on Dec. 12, but it wasn’t because of new neighbors. More than 100 tons of faux snow were spread across the Leimert Park Village Plaza to create the “Winter Huttland.”

If the name rings a bell, it’s because 10th District Councilmember Heather Hutt was the brains behind the blizzard that drew more than 2,000 parents and their children to the event.

“It’s important to give children and families the opportunity to have fun in their own community,” said Hutt. “Bringing snow here makes it even better for the holidays.” ‘

Hutt’s wonderland marked the third year of the four-hour snow show in the park. Designed more as a community gathering, the winter wonderland shut down the entire village, leaving visitors free to swoon over the dozen or so classic hot rods on display, graze from the various food trucks and vendors dishing out free meals, hop onto miniature train rides for the kids, and line-up for air-brushed t-shirts by the artist who designed artwork on the hit ABC sitcom, “Black-ish.” But, when all was said and done, it always got back to the snow.

“I’m so excited to play in the snow,” said Myliah Lee, adding, “because this is my first time playing in snow.”…
