Police shot and killed a man who reportedly charged at them with a knife Thursday in Hollywood, authorities announced.
The harrowing ordeal unfolded in the 1400 block of North Bronson Avenue, a bustling area near Sunset Boulevard, at around 3:35 p.m., the Los Angeles Police Department said in a news release posted on X.
Hollywood Division officers responded to reports of a “possible attempt[ed] suicide suspect” at an apartment complex, with arriving units encountering a male suspect they say was armed with a knife.
“A 40mm less lethal foam launcher was deployed to no effect,” police said. “During that encounter, the armed suspect charged at officers and an officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect was struck by gunfire and taken into custody.”
