LA County opens $23M Emergency Rent Relief Program

Eligible landlords in Los Angeles County and displaced homeowners impacted by the 2025 wildfires and other emergency-related financial hardships can apply for financial assistance from the $23 million Emergency Rent Relief Program, officials announced Thursday.

Eligible applicants include landlords whose tenants were unable to pay rent because of emergency-related hardship or whose rental units remain vacant as a result of wildfire damage, according to the county Department of Consumer and Business Affairs.

The program also is for displaced homeowners who lost their homes in the wildfires that devastated communities in January. Many residents of Altadena, Pacific Palisades and other fire-affected areas “are now renting elsewhere while facing unpaid rent, mortgages, or other qualified expenses caused by recent emergencies,” according to the DCBA…
