Residents and bystanders in Downtown Los Angeles were briefly alarmed on December 24th when smoke was seen emanating from a residential apartment complex at 928 S Broadway St. According to an alert from the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), firefighters were dispatched at 01:53 PM to the 11-story building with reports of smoke visible from the 7th floor. Firefighters swiftly moved into offensive mode to tackle what was initially believed to be a structure fire.
The LAFD, which rapidly responded to the scene, worked to quickly assess the situation. The crew was fully deployed, engaging the potential threat head-on. The alert, which can be seen here, notes essential details such as the time of the incident and the units that were in response, including Battalion Chiefs and several engine companies.
However, this potential disaster was averted as the incident turned out to be less severe than initially reported.
