Just after 10:30 p.m. on December 31, 2025, gunfire echoed through a Northridge neighborhood as celebrations marked the arrival of the new year. An off-duty ICE agent, residing in the apartment complex, heard shots and believed he was facing an active shooter scenario. He confronted a man who witnesses described as firing a rifle into the air, a reckless act amid the holiday festivities.
