New Year’s Eve bomb plot foiled as 4 California suspects plead not guilty

Los Angeles, California – Two people accused of planning coordinated New Year’s Eve bombings across Southern California pleaded not guilty Monday to sweeping federal charges, as prosecutors outlined what they say was a terror plot stopped just weeks before execution.

Audrey Carroll, 30, of South Los Angeles, and Zachary Aaron Page, 32, of Torrance, were arraigned in Los Angeles federal court on charges that include conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction, providing and attempting to provide material support to terrorists, and possession of unregistered firearms. If convicted on all counts, both could face sentences of up to life in federal prison.

A third defendant, Tina Lai, 41, of Glendale, entered not guilty pleas last week to one count of providing and attempting to provide material support to terrorists and one count of possession of unregistered firearms.
