OAKLAND, Calif. — California Attorney General Rob Bonta has released a report concluding that criminal charges are not warranted in the officer-involved shooting that resulted in the death of Victor Nava during an arrest operation in Vernon, California, on April 5, 2023.
The report was issued pursuant to Assembly Bill 1506, which requires the California Department of Justice to investigate officer-related shootings resulting in the death of an unarmed civilian. The DOJ stated that the purpose of the investigation was to “provide transparency and accountability in law enforcement practices.”
