(KRON) — Facebook’s parent company Meta Platforms, Inc. will permanently cut 219 jobs at its Burlingame facility at 311 Airport Boulevard, according to the latest Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice filed with California’s Employment Development Department.
The company also announced plans to cut 52 jobs at its facility on Waterfront Drive in Los Angeles this week. The layoffs will happen by March 20, the WARN notice states.
Last week it was reported that Meta was moving forward with plans to cut more than 1,000 jobs related to the company’s virtual reality products. The layoffs come after the company reportedly lost $73 billion in the last five years trying to reimagine the internet as a VR-headset based “Metaverse.”…
