Man says he heard shots, then realized he was victim of L.A. gunfire

Los Angeles police are searching for a suspect who shot a man in the Historic South-Central neighborhood overnight.

The shooting was reported shortly before 11:30 p.m. Sunday on East 43rd Place near Avalon Boulevard.

Responding officers found a 46-year-old man on the street suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim told investigators he heard gunfire, then realized he had been struck. He was taken to a local hospital in unknown condition.
