Just as quickly as she arrived, she was gone. Valentine’s Day didn’t turn up any love matches for LA County’s lone wolf.
The three-year-old gray wolf, known as BEY03F, was the first documented wolf in Los Angeles County in over a century. Wildlife officials tell the LA Times she has already left the area. GPS data shows she traveled back north into Kern County within days of briefly roaming the mountains above Santa Clarita.
The collared wolf has trekked more than 370 miles from northeastern California, searching for a mate during the species’ short winter breeding season. Experts say time is limited, as wolves are only fertile once a year…
