Police Chase Ends in Crash in Lancaster Leaving One Dead, One Injured

One person was killed and another was injured when a law enforcement pursuit ended in a crash in Lancaster, the California Highway Patrol said Wednesday.

Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department began pursing the suspects at 4:57 p.m. Tuesday, CHP Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service. The suspects, traveling in a white Ford truck that was allegedly connected to a murder investigation, sped away from the deputies at Avenue K at speeds that reached 100 mph, Garcia said.

CHP officers took over the chase and deployed spike strips in an attempt to slow down the suspects. The truck struck at least one spike strip, lost a rear tire and came to a stop after it crashed onto the railroad tracks at Sierra Highway and Avenue D, according to reports from the scene…
