A NEW Amtrak route is set to give commuters a chance to avoid rush hour traffic and highway havoc.
The route is set to run daily, and won’t add any time to the lengthy commutes drivers are already making on highways.
At its meeting on Thursday, the Santa Barbara County Association of Governments agreed unanimously on a train service expansion, letting commuters substitute their drives for a two-hour round trip.
Expected to launch in April or May 2026, the decision will add a new Amtrak train to the existing Pacific Surfliner route during mornings and evenings at rush hour times…
