A violent head-on collision on northbound State Route 23 at Los Angeles Avenue left two people dead and three others seriously injured Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2007 Chevy Silverado traveling south tried to pass traffic at high speed using the center median. The driver lost control, striking an embankment and crossing over the median guardrail into northbound lanes, where it crashed head-on with a 2013 Lexus ES350.
