Prosecutors Say LAPD Officer Collected Disability Benefits, Then Went Skydiving

LOS ANGELES – Prosecutors say an LAPD officer collected disability benefits for an on duty injury – then went skydiving.

Officer Christopher Carnahan was arrested Wednesday, Feb. 25, on suspicion of workers’ compensation fraud after investigators alleged he exaggerated an injury to his left elbow to obtain “temporary totally disabled” status, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

The District Attorney’s Office said Carnahan reported the injury on May 22, 2023. While classified as temporarily totally disabled, prosecutors allege he completed “many skydives” at Skydive Elsinore in Lake Elsinore and worked out at a fitness center – activity the District Attorney’s Office said contradicted his disability claims…
