The grand opening of the Erewhon West Hollywood store was disrupted Wednesday morning by animal rights activists who accused the upscale grocer of sourcing products from factory farms linked to animal cruelty.
Members of Direct Action Everywhere gathered outside the store ahead of its ribbon-cutting ceremony, holding signs that read “End Factory Farming,” “Real California Cruelty” and “Erewhon, shame on you for selling Meyenberg goat’s milk.” Protesters chanted and urged the company to adopt a factory farm-free policy.
