Gym-bound retiree stops for water, walks away with $2M lottery win in L.A.

A Los Angeles man’s spontaneous decision to buy a bottle of water on his way to the gym changed his life forever when he struck it rich on a California Lottery ticket.

According to lottery officials, Brian Crandall, a recent retiree, stopped by the Nite Mini Market at 5101 Santa Monica Boulevard in East Hollywood with just a few bucks in his pocket, looking only to quench his thirst ahead of a workout.

“I had a few dollar bills in my pocket,” Crandall said. “I went to the store on the corner and bought a bottle of water, which was a dollar. And I realized, oh, wait — there’s also another bill, a $20 bill.”…
