Short Notice, Big Decisions: Manchester & Crenshaw Deserves Better Engagement

On March 6, residents of Inglewood’s District 1 were invited to a community information meeting regarding a proposed Chick-fil-A restaurant complex planned for the former Big Lots parking lot at Manchester and Crenshaw. The project has the potential to significantly reshape one of the most visible corners in our district. Yet many residents were left asking why such an important conversation was scheduled with so little notice.

Community members say they only learned about the meeting earlier that same week, leaving many with little time to rearrange work schedules, childcare, or other obligations in order to attend. For a project of this size and impact, residents deserve more time to engage, ask questions, and weigh the pros and cons before decisions begin moving forward.

The urgency is particularly concerning because the proposal is already expected to move quickly through the process. A special meeting of the Planning Commission is scheduled for March 17, where commissioners will consider the project and potentially move it forward.
