Santa Ana Winds to Bring More Power Outage and Travel Concerns Sunday

LOS ANGELES – Gusty Santa Ana winds are expected to return Sunday morning across Los Angeles County, bringing another round of concern over downed trees, power outages and dangerous conditions for high-profile vehicles, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters said Sunday’s winds are not expected to be as strong as Saturday’s peak, but gusts will still likely reach 35 to 50 mph in some areas as the system shifts into a more easterly pattern. The weather service said a wind advisory will remain in effect through 3 p.m. Sunday, while a heat advisory is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. across much of Los Angeles County.

The wind will also be paired with unusually warm, dry weather. Temperatures are expected to climb near 90 degrees in the warmer valley areas Sunday, with many other communities reaching the 80s. The National Weather Service warned that “Minor to moderate heat impacts will be possible, mainly for outdoor workers and those without air conditioning.”…
