The family of a man who was stabbed to death in a California parking lot is suing the city for $40 million after he was allegedly left to die when his ambulance was stolen.

At around 9:30 a.m. local time on Sept. 13, 2025, Reinaldo Jesus LeFonts, 68, was stabbed while charging his Tesla outside Downey City Library and died at the scene, the Downey Police Department (DPD) said in a news release posted on Facebook.
