An officer with the Los Angeles Police Department has reportedly been placed on administrative leave while officials investigate allegations that he stole more than $700 from a vehicle while responding to a call for service last week, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The officer in question, according to an LAPD official who spoke with The Times on condition of anonymity, was caught on security video opening the door of a Tesla and leaning inside the vehicle on at least two occasions while his partner was taking a report.
At some point after the alleged theft, the Tesla’s owner went to the LAPD station the officer is assigned to and reported the missing money.
