Fire damages Hollywood Hills home

Firefighters extinguished a house fire on March 9 at 8932 W. St. Ives Drive in the Hollywood Hills West community above the Sunset Strip. A large plume of smoke could be seen for miles.

The blaze was reported around 6:10 p.m. in the 1200 block of Hilldale Avenue, but arriving personnel revised the address after determining the home is on St. Ives Drive. Firefighters found “heavy fire” on the roof of the four-story single-family hillside house, Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Jennifer Middleton said. The fire had the potential to rapidly spread, so personnel from the Los Angeles County and Beverly Hills fire departments joined the operation per a mutual aid agreement. Firefighters mounted an offensive attack and the flames were extinguished in 42 minutes, Middleton added.

The fire was confined to the roof of the structure. A firefighter from the Los Angeles County Fire Department sustained a minor burn and was transported to a hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported and the cause of the blaze is under investigation…
